The Harrisons

We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)

The Harrisons

We are a newly wed couple that was losing significant weight before we were married. With Gods help, and the Biggest Loser, we inspire to make permanent changes in our weight and lives.

We decided to enter the contest so that we can find the encouragement, inspiration and determination to stay on track. We are inspired by the stories and lives of the Biggest Loser contestants. We hope to be an inspiration to friends & family. We want to show them that if we can lose the weight and get healthy, so can they.

Our meals will consist of low glycemic & low carb foods. We have been very successful with this plan in the past, until laziness set in. We know that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. And with much prayer and discipline, we intend to make this a lifestyle, instead of a diet. We also have invested in exercise equipment, and are making it an important part of our plan.

Our weight loss goals are:
Dusty: 140
Tonya: 100+
Combined: 240+

We are not on a diet

We are not on a diet

No we are not... diets don't help, diets don't work.
We are changing our lives. We are changing our base habits of eating... not losing ten pounds then cheating on the weekend.
Not losing 30 pounds and then ok I'll eat a whole pizza since I have. This is not a diet that I am going to see how far I can stretch the rule or push the limit... This is a Life Change. With the Power of Christ we are Changing these temples. We are going to be Like Ezra we are going to rebuild the walls !!!
This is the decree!!! Let the enemy know, We will Live and NOT DIE! But Live and Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Slacking!

It is SO easy to get off track with exercise. I (Tonya) havent made time to do any of it lately, even with an elliptical sitting in my extra bedroom. Things have been kinda out of the ordinary here, but that is no excuse really. Somewhere along the way, I could make a few minutes to exercise. Its laziness really. I have got to find the motivation to get back to it. On a good note though, I have lost 3 more lbs since my last weigh in, and have stayed in ketosis for over a month, which means Ive not cheated at all on my foods.

I am proud of my husband though. He is staying on track, and even doing workout marathons. He also has been doing great on his foods, and not cheating. Even when we took our nieces to the circus.. DANG.. that was HARD.. lol...

Anyways, yall give me some motivation tips to help me WANT to get on that machine and exercise cause.. most of the time I can find 29382832938 reasons not toWink.. Hehe...

Gods Love & Blessings to you all!!

She never fails to amaze me!

Sitting here thinking about my niece, it almost overwhelms me. What can I say about Alicia? She is one of the strongest people I know.  She overcomes difficulties every single day that no little girl should know about. Yet, she finds the strength and courage to be who God has made her to be. She is beautiful, courageous, smart, funny. She has taken on this challenge to lose weight, and ran with it. She is fighting and winning against temptations of food, where most adults would fail. I am so proud of the victories she has had in this short time in her weight loss. I pray that Dusty & I can be an inspiration in her life, most importantly by showing her God & bringing her up in Faith, and by helping her to achieve her goal of losing weight.

We are proud of you Toonkie & love you very much!!

Body by McDonalds

Would you like to hear a sad story?
Ok I guess I'll try to make this as inspirational as it can possibly be.
I know how to eat. I know what to eat to make me healthy.
There is no question I have a lot of incite to health that just might be
what makes this such a sad story.

My wife and I work together, some people cringe at that idea...
I on the other hand think it is one of the best things God has ever done for me.
I won't  go into the whole ordeal lets just say God
maneuvered us right into each others life's in only a way He could.
What a blessing! God's so good to us!

So like I was saying, my wife and I work together.
Thus we have the same schedule, same eating habits and
ultimately the same bad habits to fall back into.

After the wedding we " took time " off our diet.
We would promise to do the right thing or get back to it,
but in a way we became each others enablers.

Our drive home became... lets just say... um... sad.
We drive right through the middle of town on our way home.
Every drive thru and every fast food restaurant became our haven.
Lets put it in terms you'll have to understand, we had a usual at Mc Donald's!
Which included 2 double cheese burgers each, a Large fry each, and 20 - 50
nuggets, Large Coke and Tea.

In case your wondering we get off work at 11:00 pm and have an
hour drive home. So we would eat all this and then usually go to
bed full of all this junk...
Not that Mc D's was the only place that we ordered from,
We had a usual at Wendy's that consisted of 2 Large Baconator
Combo's and anywhere from 20-50 nuggets with honey mustard sauce. Plus Large
drinks of course!
We nearly had to go to the hospital after an ordeal with Sonics Chili Cheese Tots.
Good Lord at the Tummy Rot!

You other sympathetic chubby people know where I'm coming from.

Needless to say one day we got to actually looking at the amount of money
that we were "Eating away".
By the way my wife and I are Tithers. We believe in stewardship,
and that God is the source of our income.
So we recounted what we would eat in a normal night of Midnight
Madness in our feeding frenzy,
and came up with this number rounded of course like we had become
yet again. 25$ .

25$ a day spent on fast food alone. we work usually
6 days a week. So lets do a little math, 6x25$=150,
the average month having four weeks, 4x150$= $600.
$600 a Month people!  Oh how ashamed we were.
I believe that was the moment God "Rebuked the Devourer".

Laxness and complacent views on what choices we had working all
the time and trying to find time to cook right and eat right had pushed
us not only into the path to an early grave, but to taking the money
God had blessed us with and killing ourselves with it.

Since then we have changed our ways, we are swearing off fast food.
Body by Mc Donald's No More!

Soon and with his grace and supernatural will power we will be able
to say proudly these are the Temples of the living God!
And How Beautiful are thy Temples O' Lord!

In hopes of getting back to the way he made us,
Body By God!

Pray for us as we pray for you!

Shalom,
Rev. Dusty Harrison

Awesome site - thanks for the 'help from God's word'. Keep on working at it, God is the author and the finisher of your faith - even the faith to lose weight!  And He will complete the work He began in you - even the work to bring the temples of the Holy Spirit into shape for His glory.  Remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength - and in His presence is fullness of joy - and in the 1# trials - you can count it all joy, because He is doing His work in you.
In His hand and under His wings,
~Christi
